Hello, it’s Damien! For those who don’t know, I just passed my 2-year anniversary here at T4T, and over the past few days, I’ve been looking back at how I got here. At the start of 2024, I was still line cooking in restaurants and working on side projects with friends in an effort to continue using my project management skills. With the games industry undergoing a wave of layoffs, I didn’t think I had a lot of prospects, right up to the moment that I got a call from Maliki LaForce telling me I should apply to the program manager position at Technology for Tomorrow. An exciting opportunity to say the least: a chance to help better my community, meet people I might’ve never had the chance see, and put to practice the skills that I’d spent my entire college career honing.
The last two years have been nothing short of a trip. It’s been a real gift to go to work every day with some incredibly close friends, show up to classes with excited learners, and share a space with people who truly invested in improving Vermont!
As always, I want give a few quick shoutouts to Maliki, Vijay Desai, Becky Holt and Wolde North for being just an amazing team. Also another to Jessie Leigh Gagnon and the Game Studio at Champlain College for helping me to build the foundation that’s brought me here!
