This last Monday, April 24th, we ran our first class with Chittenden Regional Correctional Facility as part of the Comcast Digital Navigation Program! These classes focus on bringing job-excellence and technology-focused lectures to the inmates, including topics around AI, AI Tools, Protection from Scams, Job Boards, and how to access nonprofit resources online.
The first class went extremely well! Many students are curious about AI and what it is capable of. This program will continue to provide classes once every month until August!
“When I was very young, I had both of my parents go through this facility. I’m keenly aware of the issues inmates face around technology, especially how big the ‘digital divide’ can become during this time. I hope to continue working with them so the people affected have it as easy as possible when it comes time to reintegrate back into our society,” says Maliki LaForce, our lead trainer for this project.
